Effect of Preflaring on Accuracy of Endodontic Length Determination by Four Electronic Apex Locators

Objective: Root canal anatomy significantly impacts the working length determination. This study aimed to investigate effect of preflaring technique on accuracy four electronic apex locators. Methods: Forty-five single-canal central maxillary teeth were selected. The was measured before and after coronal preparation by types locators in range ±0.5 ±1 mm matched for apical constriction. actual calculated under a microscope. Data analyzed using ICC paired t-tests SPSS16. A p < 0.05 considered significant. Results: accuracies ZX, DTE, Denjoy, Coxo ± 71.1, 93.3, 84.4, 75.6% preflaring, 82.2, 97.8, 100% that. corresponding values 86.7, 100, preflaring. Significant differences found between lengths devices Conclusion: could impact performance determining may be advocated better outcomes.
